While many moan about being stuck at home, it must be
remembered those hospitalised with Covid-19 are praying to return home!
As we thank our luck and God with prayers we are able
to enjoy our house however simple or palatial, it also behoves us to make our

Datin Catherine Lai, an accomplished interior designer in the 1990s before
marrying and becoming a fulltime mother to Adrian and Alexander. ”I enjoyed raising
my two sons. Now that they are grown and working and my husband has passed away,
I have time on my hands. I enjoy perfumes and beautiful fragrances---and who
doesn’t---and decided to launch this home-beautifying collection in March 2021.
“But I always prefer form with function and
flair---the 3 F! Something useful and practical can also be beautiful and
artistic! While scented candles are nothing new, my Radiate collection of ‘Abundance’
and ‘Pure Love’ candles are saturated with precious fragrant oils used in
costly perfumes.
“Like fine French perfumes, each candle has Base,
Middle and Top notes. For example, the ‘Abundance’ fragrant candles starts with
a base note of amber, tonka beans and musk which slowly gives rise to cinnamon,
geranium and vanilla before cascading into plum, saffron and patchouli. Each
large candle lasts for 40 hours though you should light it for a few hours at a
time as your room will be enveloped with delightful fragrance that is long
lasting.”
For centuries, sumptuously scented candles and
incense burners perfumed China’s Forbidden City and royal palaces throughout
the Middle Kingdom while it was de rigueur for European courts to be exquisitely
fragranced through such means.
As Datin Catherine Lai believes form can follow function,
the containers are not the usual run of the mill glass or worse, throwaway

Says its creator, “Once the candle is finished, the
