Newly-opened IZAKAYA BY K is celebrating its first
Mother’s Day at the family-friendly Tseung Kwan O social hub with an exclusive
menu of delightful dishes, appetisers, sushi styled especially for mums –
complete with a great value bottle of sparkling wine to celebrate.
IZAKAYA BY K has been warmly welcomed for its lively vibe and stylish Japanese
izakaya fare since opening in February 2021.
Now the vibrant hotspot is welcoming mums to celebrate their special day
in fashionable style with its debut Mother’s Day promotion from 30 April to 9 May 2021.
Exclusive new
starters include Conger Boiled Abalone (HK$48), slow-cooked in kombu soup, mirin and
Japanese soy sauce for 4-5 hours before resting overnight to retain gently,
bouncy texture and evenly absorb aromas before gloriously presented with caviar
on top. Deep Fried Tosa Tofu with Sakura Shrimp (HK$58) has a crispy and
crunchy coating of bonito flakes and fried in-season sakura shrimp and
seductively soft, smooth tofu centre.
Headlining main
Mother’s Day courses, Yosenabe Hotpot
with Seafood and Vegetables (HK$388) of snapper, oyster, scallop and clams
is in a deliciously light homemade broth that soaks up flavours of the sea for
the ultimate finale to complete any shabu shabu experience. Wagyu Sukiyaki (HK$288) of prized A4
wagyu from Miyazaki is paired with tofu, mushroom and Japanese cabbage.
Exclusive new
sushi specialties are an inspired fusion of beauty and simplicity of freshest
traditional ingredients with contemporary flair and exuberance crafted from
top-grade ‘hitomebore’ (love at first
sight) sushi rice from Miyagi, famed for its shiny, soft and sticky but smooth
texture.
Sakura Roll with Salmon and Mentaiko (HK$168) is pretty as pink from sakura shrimp
powder colouring, delectably stuffed with salmon, mentaiko roe and cucumber, topped
with shredded egg. For a light and
refreshing flavour of spring time, Prawn
Salad Roll (HK$168) is coloured green from seaweed
powder, stuffed with shrimp, cucumber and shredded egg.
Mother’s Day is
incomplete without a ‘cake’ and IZAKAYA BY K has created a sensational Sushi Cake (HK$398) for entire families or groups to celebrate in festive style –
multi-coloured layers rising from sakura pink ‘hitomebore’ rice and assorted tuna, shrimp, sea bream and hamachi
(amberjack) to green seaweed ‘hitomebore’
rice topped with fatty tuna and salmon sashimi and a sprinkled of shredded egg.

vibe to delight the most important lady in your life, IZAKAYA BY K also

Especially recommended for gatherings
are Japanese Wagyu Clay Pot Rice (HK$450) showcasing top-grade A4
Miyazaki Wagyu, famed in Japan above better-known Kobe and Matsuza Wagyu as top
prize winner in the ‘Wagyu Olympics’ for the past 15 years. With melt-in-your-mouth
texture from fine ‘snowflake’ marbling, the signature is served with Madeira
sauce for a French twist, sumptuously topped with raw egg yolk.
Skewers are also
a novel upgrade of humble izakaya fare, including Sliced Kurobuta Pork Roll with Soft Boiled Egg (HK$45) from Japan’s
most celebrated premium pork. Juicy and tender skewers marinated in a secret
recipe and grilled according to ancient extend to Pork Belly (HK$36), Ox Tongue
(HK$45) and Premium Chicken Thigh (HK$38),
from free-range farms in pristine Kagoshima. A full range of chicken
‘yakitori’ skewers also extends to chicken skin, neck, liver, tail and heart.
Exceptional sushi
is headlined by Saba Roll Sushi (HK$268), from a traditional pressing of cured
whole mackerel, shiso leaves and sushi rice.
Dessert
favourites include Hojicha Crème Brulee (HK$55), a variation of France’s iconic sweet
treat that is smoky flavoured by unusual red-brown hojicha green tea, roasted
by a famous Kyoto tea shop, with a twist of orange peel and hint of Earl Grey
tea for an elegant touch. Instaworthy Raindrop
Cake (HK$48), known as “Mizu
Shingen Mochi” in Japan, is a classic summer jelly-like treat of vegan,
calorie-free agar powder and Japanese mineral water originating from Yamanashi that
resembles a giant raindrop, sprinkled with soy bean powder.

a cosy social vibe, perfect for various gatherings, from family dinners and
small celebrations to social gatherings and dinner dates.
