WATCH EXPERT FRANZ RIVOIRA SAYS THERE ARE 2 WATCHES SIMILAR IN STYLE AND APPEARANCE TO ROLEX EXPLORER BUT AT A FRACTION OF ROLEX'S COST --- SEIKO AND STEINHART WHICH I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF!

"Rolex seems to attract a lot of attention from its lovers and its haters. And one of the most iconic models of Rolex - which has been largely copied - err, lots of companies have been inspired by it - is the Explorer
Apart from the blatant copies and imitations - which flood the market - there are other companies which manufacture some nice Explorer-alikes which are appreciated by the very picky bunch of watch enthusiasts.
I will cite two of the most famous.
The first is Seiko.

This is a Seiko SARB033.
It is a beautiful watch, made with top-notch materials, perfectly engineered with Japan quality of assembly, and has some really cool features, between which a 100 mt water resistance, 50 hour power reserve, an exhibition back which shows the movement, a sturdy, respectable Seiko 23 jewels 6R15 Caliber Automatic (self-winding, hand winding, hacks) beating at 21,600 bph and offering an amazing accuracy of about +3 seconds per day, well withing chronometer specs.
A Seiko would provide you with all the watch you need at a fraction of the cost of a Rolex (around 350 USDs).
There is another cool alternative to the Seiko, which is the Steinhart.

The Steinhart Ocean One is a beautiful watch, sturdy as an ox. It is made in Germany and mounting a Swiss Made ETA2893-2 automatic movement. It complies with the highest standards, with a full stainless steel case and wristband that is satin brushed on the top and high polished sides.
The stainless steel bezel is polished and you can track three different time zones. It has a 40 hours power reserve, and is water resistant up to 300 meters. (As a side note, I like its looks more than the Rolex).
It is a little bit costlier than the Seiko, at around 550 USDs.
As you can see, there is plenty of choice for you to wear a Rolex-alike of very good quality and save a load of cash in the process.
And mind you, these watches - even if they are not real Rolexes - will be positively noticed by the watch enthusiasts (who will probably ask you about them and compliment about them, too - I mean, they are gorgeous timepieces)."
