OK SO YOU ARE NOT A MULTI MILLIONAIRE BUT STILL WANT A NICE, VERY DE NICE, WATCH THAT MIGHTGB GO UP IN VALUE? WHAT ARE THEY? ONE IS PATEK PHILIPPE NAUTILUS 5711 WHICH IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO BUY AND THE OTHER 2 ARE OMEGA SPEEDMASTER 42MM MOON PHASE AND THE THIRD IS GRAND SEIKO GMT!

Let Franz Rivoira give you three examples, not all in the luxury segment though!
Let’s start with the most expensive one, the Patek Philippe Nautilus 5711, but not the blue dial, instead with the white dial!
Some people called it the “garage door” for obvious reasons of the colour choice, but I believe it’s one of the more versatile Nautilus’ out there, as the white goes with more setups, than their traditional blue variant.
Just imagine wearing a black suit and wearing a blue dial watch, it wouldn’t fit!
But that wouldn’t be the main reason why I’d pick this one. The main reason is rather because they stopped the production of this one, so it will only go up in value in my opinion.
The traditional 5711 is still being produced and can be (albeit with a long wait list) be bought at your favourite AD:
Also I do think the blue is so common nowadays in the luxury watch segment, the white dial variant is still an eye-catcher!
Let’s move to the more middle-luxury segment and let me give you two examples: Omega and Grand Seiko, but not just any variant!
For Omega I’d say the Omega Speedmaster Professional Moonphase in the more traditional 42mm case, which isn’t being produced anymore could be quite an interesting investment:
It has the traditional Speedmaster Professional size, comes with an additional complication of the Moonphase, which is very fitting for its history and has a see-through caseback:
…showing quite an interesting movement. I think this watch is undervalued and has been going up in value for quite some time now.
Another contender could be the blue Speedmaster Snoopy:
But as it’s boutique-only, and limited production (not limited release) and still going to be released in 2021, it’ll be interesting to see whether and if it will perform value-wise!
And last up we have the Grand Seiko SBGM221 GMT:
I usually don’t write a lot about Grand Seiko, but this watch in my opinion is highly undervalued because it gives you a GMT function (so a second time zone) on a beautifully polished case for a fraction of the cost of its Rolex and Patek Philippe counterparts.
I once heard a watch collector say that a Grand Seiko is Patek quality but for a Casio price, and I tend to agree, their finishing is amazing.
It comes with a nice see through caseback and the only thing that could potentially stop it from going up in value might be its thickness which at 13+mm is a bit much in my opinion. But other than this, this is a go from me.
